Last night I was laying in my room watching a movie and I started thinking about the name of the movie and how the character in the movie was portrayed. The movie was called "Goon" it is about a guy who basically has nothing going for him in his life, his best friend runs a web video website that talks about hockey. He goes to a hockey game with his friend and one of the players from the away team get put in the penalty box and they start yelling at eachother and the hockey player climbs over the plastic wall trying to fight this guy and ends up getting his butt kicked. That fight changed his life, the head coach of the home team saw what he did and liked it so he let him try out for the team as the "enforcer." Basically he was the guy who when he was on the ice just beat the crap out of anyone who touched his teammates. He stayed with this small team for a little while and later in the movie he gets a shot with a semi big team to be their enforcer. He ends up going and beating the crap out of everybody, but the really big thing about him going up to that team is that there is a player who is about to retire who is known as the leagues best enforcer and every hockey fan wants them to duke it to see who the best enforcer is.
The reason I chose to talk about Goon is because its very stereotypical of hockey players, it basically said that he was not ther to play hockey but to just beat everyone up so that his team could win. Hockey is known as a nehanderthal sport and it was just funny that this movie portrayed that perfectly. If you went to a hockey game you would notice that there is not one point in the game where someone is not getting the *bleep* knocked out of them but its how the game is played. Normally when there is a movie made after a sport it does exactly what this movie did, it stereotypes to the max.
